About Us

We were founded in 1980 and have provided countless hours of volunteer service to Charleston, the surrounding area, and the College of Charleston.

Our brotherhood is composed of a diverse array of academic interests, ranging from biology and medicine, to education, to the fine arts and the humanities, to the world of business and finance. But the one thing that unites us all is our desire to serve our neighbors.

Alpha Phi Omega was founded in 1925 at Lafayette College by Frank Reed Horton and thirteen of his friends, all former Boy Scouts who desired to continue their Scouting experience as students. Alpha Phi Omega shares the core principles of Scouting: leadership, friendship, and service.
